Week 8

Kaya, and welcome back to the 3H blog.

It is so hard to believe that we are halfway through week 8 already. The children have been working so hard over this term. You should be very proud of their efforts.

World Down Syndrome Day

Thank you so much for the support for World Down Syndrome Day. The children had such a wonderful time designing and creating their crazy socks. It was awesome to see the colours and craziness on the day.

Merit Awards Week 6 and 7

Congratulations to Judah and Jaega for being recognised and celebrated for your total awesomeness. Well done guys.

Character Strength

Dear Parents, currently at OLC we are focusing on modeling and observing different character strengths. The strengths that we will focus on are taken directly from the VIA Institute for Character. If you wanted to learn more about this please follow the link to the 24 character strengths: https://www.viacharacter.org/character-strengths
This upcoming week we are looking for people who show Honesty. Can you encourage your child to reflect on the following?

Learning Intentions

Writing

We are learning to plan, construct and write a narrative. After several weeks of focusing on this genre, the children will be completing a hot task today.

Reading

We are learning to identify literal and implied meaning connecting ideas in different parts of text

Spelling

We are learning to use the sounds in words to help support us in spelling

Maths

We are learning to represent money values in various ways and correctly count out change

Homework

Children were given homework yesterday consisting of a reading log and some multiplication facts to work on. These are not due until Friday of week 9.

Enjoy the remainder of your week.
