Week 8

Kaya Year Three parents and welcome to the start of Week 8. It’s hard to believe that we are nearly halfway through the year. I spent some of my weekend preparing and finalising the children’s mid-year reports and it was such a warm reminder of how hard they have worked this year and how far they have come. The children and yourselves should be very proud of their resilience through a very ‘different’ start to the year.

Excursion

The students did an amazing job during our excursion to Ngilgi Cave. They were unbelievable and learnt so much. Mrs Paula Murphy reported back that they were all engaged and enjoyed the experiences with local elder, Josh Whiteland.

Cross Country

Cross country is this Thursday. Woop Woop!!

Students will head down at 9am for a 9:15am start and it should be finished before recess. Students will sit in their year level with their teachers and are to wear their FACTION TOPS. The students may choose to bring a teddy and bring colour (zinc is acceptable).

Dance concert – A message from Ellie Haines

Hello Year 3-6 Families, The OLC Dance Concert is Friday, Week 10 (1st July) after lunch. Please come along and watch what your children have been working on in Dance this Term- they have been rockstars with all the pandemic interruptions, and I am very proud of what we are putting together :) All Year 3-6 students will be having a full Dress Rehearsal Monday, Week 10 (27th June). The following costumes are required and needed at School Monday and Friday Week 10. Please label all items (including School Uniform) as students will be getting changed at School. *Students do not wear the costume to School* YEAR 3’s Any outfit of choice (that they can dance in!) in colours RED AND BLACK. Long pants are preferred, and sneakers please (any colour sneakers). Students can wear hats, accessories and layering, eg a jacket looks great too! They are doing a hip hop routine so any funky clothing is great. Any big labels/pictures on clothing is fine (or can wear inside out). Thank you, any questions please reply or email me Ellie.haines@cewa.edu.au

Homework

Homework will be given out tomorrow and will be due back on

Friday, Week 9.

Unfortunately, we have only had a few of the students return their homework books over the last few due dates. This results in the children not having their homework books to prepare for the next fortnight.

We are compassionate to the busy lives of families and understand that there might be nights that homework doesn’t fit into the routine. However, a lot of time goes into the preparation and differentiating of the homework and the main reason we decided on a fortnightly turnaround was to give families more flexibility of when the homework can be done.

If there are any issues or concerns with the homework, please contact myself or Paula.

Library

Just a reminder that the children have library every Friday. If they could please have their library bags with their books to return in their bags on a Friday, that would be greatly appreciated.

Merit and Star Citizen Awards

Congratulations to Alex for receiving the Star Citizen award for Appreciation this term. He should be so proud of the brilliant job he does consistently displaying this value. It is so lovely to see the OLC values running strongly in all the children.

Congratulations to Max for receiving the Week 7 merit award. What an incredible job he has been doing on his reading and thank you to Charlene for supplying the photo.

Planned Holidays

We are coming to that time of year where families are escaping the cold and heading North. So lucky!! It is such a great opportunity for real life learning and adventure for the children, but please ensure that you fill out an extended absentee form at the office before leaving.

Enjoy these last few weeks of term and if there are any questions, concerns or feedback, please don’t hesitate to contact Paula or myself.
